he can’t sniff anything off speed

This is not true. Is he good at hitting off speed pitches? No. Is he he way better than last year? Yes.

The pitch he still struggles with from left handers is sharp curve breaking on inside of the plate down in the zone. Exactly the pitch he stuck out on in the 9th but a lot of college hitters struggle at hitting that pitch.

That's been his Achilles heel, but it's worth mentioning that Friday's HR was on an offspeed pitch.
You could tell that at the time, because it wasn't your typical Bear HR. It was a long pop fly that he had the strength to push over the wall, instead of a liner that screamed over.

I do think he needs an offseason of BP with a guy with a good curveball. If he can learn to hit that consistently, he will be insane.

Jared Jones should not be in the heart of the lineup, strikeouts kill momentum. We are screwed next year if he is still our 3 or 4 hole hitter

He probably isn’t. It doesn’t take much to figure out how to own Jones. Which is a changeup or any kind of curve/breaking ball.

Jones can even know it’s coming and he still can’t hit it.

Irony at its finest.

Bottom line is, unless he runs into one, he strikes out.

Do you have any idea how you can tell if someone is a good hitter?

Jones fine. He's one of the better players on the team right now I think. It would not hurt my feelings to see most of this team gone next year and just wash their hands starting new with the portal.

The 2022 recruiting class was an absolute disaster.

WTF you people been. This is the modern day power hitter. Nobody bats .325 anymore for a season . Their goal is to hit homers every 10 /15 at bats. And he’s damn good at it… Anything else is lagniappe.

Why lie?

Aside from nothing in that post being a lie, why would I need to? We watch both baseball and softball all the time so she can pick up on hitters tendencies. And being that we love to watch LSU baseball, she has learned that he cant hit off speed pitches or breaking balls. Its just something he hasnt been able to do well.

Breaking news here: unless a guy makes contact, he doesn’t make contact.

Someone should do some investigative journalism to see if this true.

We are talking about overall picture. Anyone that has watched him since he has been here can see that thats been his nemesis. Yes he hit one the other day but look BIG PICTURE and how many has he hit vs struck out on?

Does he struggle with off speed stuff at times? Sure, but so do many college hitters. But he is vastly improved as as hitter from last year and if you can’t see that I’m not sure what you’ve been watching.

Anyone that has watched Jones both last year and this year can tell he has improved at hitting breaking balls.
Does he still need work there? Yes, but he is making improvements.

He's hitting the draft this summer. Why stick around and read all this crap about yourself for another year?
