I’m guessing most of the normal gym people aren’t in this thread, but in case they are…

I just rewatched and there definitely looks like there was something wrong with the vault. I don’t know if it was a weird padding or what, but it looked like a lot of people had weird problems with landings. Even Oklahoma had big issues in the semis which basically knocked them out. You expect people to not stick landings, but it just seemed like an abnormal amount of people were stumbling and almost falling.

It’s funny to say it now but did Savannah forget she wasn’t wearing a Gator leo when she slipped beam. That was a Gator post season move if I ever saw one.

That was crazy. I looked away for a second because I knew she wasn't about to do a jump then looked back and she was swinging under the beam.

My heart broke for her when it happened, but since we won we can laugh now. But she kind of looked like a drunk person trying to get out of a pool.

My favorite thing right now are all the college gymnastics Twitter fans just still up in arms about LSU winning. The desperate outcry is absolutely lovely right now.

and just like that, Haleigh jumps right over Trinity in the all time list.
Suck it, Gators.

Some can, some can't. LSU Tigers could. Haleigh Bryant could. You couldn't.

Gator fans sweating hoping Bryant doesn't come back because she is gonna threaten the 10 record. They are lucky she has nothing to prove.

No Gator has ever had a year like this
- NCAA Team National Champion
- NCAA All Around National Champion
- AAI Award Winner
- SEC Team Champion
- SEC All Around Champion

oh, and the Gym Slam

One of the funniest parts of this week is Jay Clark winning a national title the day after Georgia fires CKC.

I know Georgia folks are kicking themselves looking back at how they managed things but the Georgia failures made Jay a better HC. He has adjusted a lot these last couple years and its a big reason why LSU came out on top today.

Also can't forget Gnat and the work she has done on beam after some brutal beam groups her first couple years. For them to not melt down and full on dominate under such immense pressure is a credit to the training and preparation done behind the scenes

Next years team regardless of Bryant's decision is gonna be very very good. Should be fun to see how that team comes together

I'm kinda still in awe of how they NAILED the beam to win it all

and (as mentioned earlier) they were CLEARLY underscored on at least three of those beam routines.

they were about as clutch as you can get.

I said the same thing when I was watching it. But it was fair, they all didn’t do well on the vault.
What was the vault scores for the four squads?

Why did Savannah fall? What was she doing? I looked away too and all of a sudden she was hanging on for dear life.

Cal 49.5
LSU 49.4
Utah 49.3
Florida 49.25

It was similar in the semifinals.

I'm curious. What are they complaining about? It's hard to argue that LSU was scored favorably or got preferential treatment.

She stumbled on her choreography lower on the beam. The most random way to fall

Yeah it was the same setup for everyone, so everyone had to deal with it so I don’t think there was an actual advantage for anyone. But it was just so odd that it wasn’t just steps or hops, it was actual stumbles. And it was the same in the semi.

It’s definitely not something you would expect to see from multiple vaulters on the best teams.

This is the same NCAA that couldn’t paint an accurate 3pt line in the women’s regionals.

It would not surprise me if the equipment was garbage

I felt for her, too. But the way she fought to not come off the beam was mind-blowing. I seriously don’t know how she did it. Had to take amazing strength. And by not coming off, she saved a few tenths, which could have made a difference, especially if we had another fall. Counting a 9.3875 as opposed to a 9.0 could have been crucial.
