The defense improving is not guaranteed. We really don't know how far we fell behind. Hopefully it is a quick fix but we don't know the whole issues.

Brian Kelly had a bad defense at ND, fired the guy and then got Elko who took the defense from 61st to 31st in one season. He then left and Clark Lea was promoted from LB coach. The next 3 years Notre Dame finished 13th, 12th, and 14th in the country.
