Didn’t Edwards average around 26 ppg this year? Not sure that’s below league average.
percentage wise he’s below league average pretty much across the board (above average ft %). ~26pts on ~20 fg attempts per game. Not that great.

This is exactly why the Spurs were tanking with Wemby this year. Can't get too good too quickly.

Booker. Somehow this guy has found himself in almost everyone’s top 10 list.

Klay Thompson
Lamelo Ball

Nobody is considering either of those as superstars.

Klay s one of the best shooters of all time that is getting old. That is pretty much how everyone views him. Nobody is overrating him.

Lamelo has a lot of potential but has had some injury issues that have obviously held him back. Never heard one person call him a superstar but he has star potential.

LeBron James

I hate him more than any athlete in professional sports. But to say Lebron is overrated is just an insanely awful take. The guy is 40 and is probably (deservedly so) going to make an All-NBA team. That's ridiculous to even think about. He's unquestionably one of the two best players to play the game, and this is coming from a big LeBron haters out there. If anything, threads like this show that he's underrated if anything.

Jimmy Butler

One of the most underrated players imo. Very few people in the league would have had the Heat in those two finals and almost pulled off the upset over Boston to have them in a third. Dude is just a different animal in the playoffs.

Butler is not an apples to apples comparison with other players who carry their team thru the regular season. He half arse it every season, missing 25 games, going into the playoffs at 100%. the regular season product would be horrible if every star played like him in the regular season. Also he plays for the biggest difference maker at coach in the league.

Out of these, Young and Ball.

Klay was great before the injuries caught up.

Young has a better career assist to turnover ratio than Steph Curry and Russell Westbrook, while averaging more combined points and assists than both. The volume on points and assists is astronomical. When a player is doing that much, there's more leeway on turnovers. E.g., Caitlin Clark. She averaged more turnovers this past season than Young did, and averaged more over her college career than Young has in the NBA.
If you want to argue that he's doing too much with the Hawks, and that roster changes would be beneficial for the team, I'd agree.
In building rosters, you're looking for "star systems" rather than a single star. The whole premise of the thread is flawed.
Whether you want to classify him as a star, superstar, supernova, protostar, pulsar, neutron star, or something else, that's just a matter of parameters/definitions.
With no parameters in place, I take the rating to be in relation to public perception. In that sense, I don't think Young is generally considered a superstar. Although, the offensive numbers are up there. The defense isn't up there with the offense, but he still has room to improve. He only played one season in college. He's still a young player.

Well, maybe in the future because you first have to play enough to make yourself a "Superstar" and so far that hasn't happened---------and likely never will by the looks of it.

That's a nice way of describing the likely worst defensive player in the NBA

but he still has room to improve.

On defense? meh.

He's not a great athlete and lacks the physical profile of a good defender. Even if he pulled a 180 on his effort on defense, he'd never likely be a good defender.

Young's per game steals (1.33) this past season were better than Jimmy Butler (1.32), Anthony Edwards (1.28), Kyrie Irving (1.28), LeBron James (1.25), Jrue Holiday (0.88), Bam Adebayo (1.14), Steph Curry (0.73), and almost all NBA players.
He was somewhere in the top 15-20 range in the NBA for steals per game.

And 72 steals is a major contribution to defense.

Some of the discrediting narratives going around about Young are about turnovers. Those are highly invalid.
(And for more on that, he has a better career assist to turnover ratio than LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Allen Iverson.)
He gets turnovers on the defensive end at a better rate than guys who regularly make the All-Defense Teams, and others that are generally considered "superstars".
You're calling him the worst defender in the league. Being top 20 in the NBA in steals is at odds with that.
If he gained some quality weight, he'd probably be a better consistent defender. He's young, so maybe he does that, maybe doesn't, but getting steals at a high rate is a boon to defense.

Curry

Not saying he isn’t good. Yes, he’s the greatest shooter of all time…but he sucks on defense. Klay at his peak was the better 2 way player. Klay was elite on both ends.
