Also, where is a good place to buy muffalata bread in NOLA? Got some friends going down for Jazz Fest so I'm making a shopping list for them.
Thanks for your input.

The closest you may come is the restaurant Cochon. Otherwise you're likely not going to find good boudin unless you make a side trip to Lafayette and the surrounding areas.
There is a Ronnie's between Baton Rouge and New Orleans that has pretty good boudin too. It's about an hour or so outside of NOLA.

Rouse's carries their products. That's probably the best you're going to find in New Orleans.
Rouse's sells muffalatta bread as well, but I don't care for it much.

IDK if I can talk my friends into a side trip, but I appreciate the info.

No question about it. His stuff is great and has won the Boudin Festival title twice.

No reason for this, just have em grab you a couple from Central Grocery. I think they sale em around town and perhaps even at the airport. They travel well. No sense in you making some bastardized version of a muffuletta when you can have the real thing.

I believe they sell the Central Grocery muffulettas at either Rouse's or Zuppardo's... It maybe both stores... And Rouses does sell the Best Stop boudin...
Not crazy about Dorignac's muffulettas... They put some seasoning in the olive salad that overpowers the delicate taste..

Cochon Butcher sells Boudin, as far as I know. That would be a good bet.
As far as Muffaletta Bread, I don't know. I bet some grocery stores with bakeries have them.

for us less savvy folks how does getting boudin from someone running a facebook page work?

When they brought it to Lafayette, it doomed the place. Is all the food as bad as the boudin of course it wasn't but it was the eye test that wasn't passed and the place never recovered.

The real thing isn't exactly difficult to make if you have the bread. Unfortunately, I can't find it in SC. I do have a big arse jar of the olive salad from Costco that I need to use...that is why I'll be making my own.

You can buy most boudin directly from the source in Cajun country and have it shipped to your door. No need to shop in New Orleans. It’s 2024 my dude
Kartchner’s has the best imo

I'm not paying absurd shipping fees for that when I have friends that will be in the area. Especially since I'll be dog sitting for them for a week while they're gone. They offered to pay me, but I told them I just wanted them to bring back a few things that aren't available around here.
