It’s highly likely that you weren’t employable outside of government.

This isn't some program that Biden conjured up. It has existed for years.

Doesn't matter who conjured it up. It's theft from people who didn't take out the loans, including those who won't even be born for decades.

Thought to ponder: would there be less outrage if instead of loan forgiveness, there was a program that paid out, say, $100k in a lump sum to people who work a qualifying public service job for 10 years?

Why would working in a public service job be worth more than a comparable job in the private sector?

It’s truly illogical.

I just don’t get how any male would openly be liberal/leftist. It’s literally a lack of testosterone. It’s gotta be.

Idk how they are going to continue to get people to go to pharmacy school. Used to it was just a BS degree that could be done relatively quickly. Now the pharm D takes too long and too much time.

I'm less than a year out for ~200k of forgiveness

You mean you are less than a year out for me and others to bail you out?
Why should anyone get loan forgiveness when many people like myself lived frugally and worked to pay for college with no debt. Would you be ok with paying more taxes to reimburse me for my tuition I paid with no borrowing?

Its purpose, wise or unwise, is to attract talented people to public service who would have otherwise gone into the private sector.

Can’t have that now despite all of the constant complaining about government employees sucking.

ETA: For what it’s worth, Seeberger is an idiot for crediting Biden.

Yeah, this is not the hill to die on. Lots of doctors and pharmacists take advantage of this. My wife is a director of pharmacy for a for-profit hospital that just got bought by a bigger hospital group that is non-profit. Now her younger pharmacists that have lots of debt can work for 10 years with the new hospital and get $100k forgiven. Unfortunately, pharmacy school is expensive as frick and it’s not uncommon for some to graduate with over $200k of debt.

Doesn’t make it ANY LESS WRONG from an ethical standpoint.

I agreed to pay a monthly note on my house and my truck. I don't feel like paying them anymore. You can take the notes for me.

I find it odd that the same people who claim 18 year olds can’t fully understand how a loan works are the same ones who claim a preteen can consent to gender reassignment.

Those same 18 year olds are allowed to vote. There are some of the smartest MFers on the planet except when it comes to student loans. Then they are the vicitms.

PLSF has been in place for many years.

This is propaganda, this program was put in place back in the Bush administration. There is no "approval" by Biden, its just following established law.

his forgiveness went though PSLF which is a bush-era law and would have occurred irrespective of administration.

The poliboard went nuts about how sleepy was ignoring SCOTUS by stating they were going to actually follow this program and forgive the loans of those who met the criteria established decades ago.
