He honored his agreement. The PSLF program is part of the contract for federal loans.

Entirely conventional, but what you did there, I see it

ETA: Went and brushed up on FHA loans as it's been a while, and I still would say no. In an FHA loan, the federal government neither loans the money nor holds the mortgage; it simply insures the debt. As such, if it attempted to "forgive" that debt, not only would that not be forgiveness, as they aren't the debt holders, but it would result in their breaching their contractual agreement to insure the debt. So a double whammy of "no, the federal government can't 'forgive' FHA mortgage debt"

Not necessarily dispositive. Every fricking email I get about my loans tries to give credit to the Biden admin

You’re confused. The gov’t has no money with which to “forgive you.” I had to pay your loans off. I already paid my own loans off and now I get to pay yours off. I’ll try not to think any longer about it, but part of me hates you with a fiery passion. Ok, all of me

The con of the PSLF program is that it was meant for teachers, police, etc. The big forgiveness, though, is going to lawyers and bureaucrat "public servants".

The same people who say that you work the tax laws in your favor can’t also be upset when someone works the PSLF program in their favor.

Thanks to the save plan I'll be paying $400 instead of $1000 a month for another 5 years and will qualify for the same. 100k gone if approved

I'm sure our great great great grandchildren will enjoy paying the interest on the loans since your freeloading arse wouldn't. GFY.

I just sent the government roughly 100k. You're welcome, I guess.

What is he supposed to do? The PSLF program was a congressional act and it's part of the loan contract. He's fulfilling his side of the bargain.

This isn't some program that Biden conjured up. It has existed for years.

As with most things, you have an incredible lack of knowledge shown by uneducated workers on boards like this, and on the other end of the spectrum you have scammers/freeloaders/loud people on social media, but the 80 percent in the middle are educated, understand the program, realize they gave up income and worked in sectors others didnt, etc. It's the same for most programs.

Does it hurt to know what you’ve done with your education isn’t worth the cost of your education? Or that you are a net negative on society?
