From my understanding A&M got Montgomery because one of their coaches previously worked with him and he has a girlfriend nearby?
I could see a hitter choosing Tennessee just to pad their homer stats at a tiny park.
I think LSU will do better getting hitters out of the portal again.

Exactly. People will say it is an excuse, but it’s difficult to replace that many position players in the lineup. I was very concerned about this lineup. I still think if LSU could have landed a Montgomery type of player to pair with White that LSU likely has at least 3 more SEC wins right now. They tried though. I think they will land better next time around.
The unexpected thing was how bad the pitching has been, but they seem to be improving lately. Of course I say that today on Sunday where we typically get smashed for a run rule.

I believe this is Vitello's 7th season at UT and Schlossnagle coached at TCU for well over 10 years prior to being hired at A&M and has a huge talent base to recruit in TX. The portal isn't going to solve issues other than plug and play for one season when you need a full squad of high caliber freshmen through seniors.
