Could you leave more than 1 roll of cheap paper towels? Maybe splurge for Downey? How about upgrading to 2 ply TP? Maybe some salt and pepper, too.

I'll be happy to leave you Downy, I'm just not sure it is what you think it is.

FWIW I use Cottonelle in my rental. I leave one. Why 1 you ask? Because its a starter. I try to book longer stays 5-7 days, I only try to supply enough to start the stay. I've left more in the past, 2 or even 3 per bathroom. If you have a 2-3 bathroom for 8-10 people 3 is not nearly enough. So then guess what, people don't think its a starter and get even more pissy when they run out on Tuesday morning after they already went to the grocery store and don't want to go back.

If I had a small flat in the city where2-4 people stay 2-3 nights and generally don't go to the store, I'd certainly consider leaving plenty.

Again, amenities aren't cheap. TP is 42 cents a roll or so. You add up everything I supply and its $40-50 for a 3 bedroom just for the shampoos, tp, etc.

I'm against asking a ton from guests. But I'll also explain why its done. People leave entire fridges packed with food. They leave sand everywhere. Chocolate and candy in furniture. etc.

If it takes lets say 3 hours to clean to just make beds, put clean dishes away, sanitize, mop, sweep, vacuum, etc. Then the amount of time it takes to clean up after someone that's gross, can be up to double. If its a cleaning person making $30-50/ hour to clean once a week, then that is difficult to budget.

I'll tell you, the people that complain about cleaning fees and cleaning duties are gross.

You know who doesn't complain about cleaning, is clean people. You know why? They do it already. So they don't care.

So if you want to complain about it, honestly most would rather you stay elsewhere. The chocoloate, the candy your kids leave in the couch, the markers your kids draw on the walls with you let them do it when you were 6 beers in on vacation, that stuff beats up and costs the owners a ton of time and money.

I have 3 young kids myself, so I get it.

All I'm trying to do, is offer a perspective from the other side.
