But I'll be damned if I'm goign to do laundry.

I have had several ask me to strip the beds and/or bring all towels to the laundry room. I never have an issue with that ,and I get it as their cleaning crew is trying to turn over rentals quick.

The one that requested I do the sheets/towels and make the beds appeared to be a newer rental; so I assumed they just didn't put much thought into it and were probably their own cleaning crew (they lived 2 blocks away). When I saw the instructions, I responded with

Me: It's a little ridiculous that I need to wash all sheets & towels upon my arrival and departure
Owner: We don't require you to wash those upon arrival
Me: If I'm relying on the previous renter to have the sheets, blankets, and towels cleaned in all bedrooms (3) and baths (2), with beds made and towels put away before 10am checkout; you can be certain I NEED to wash them before I use them myself.
Owner: Our crew washes them when they do the cleaning
Me: Then why do I need to waste your water & electricity to do something you already do
Owner: We will make sure to confirm you clean all bedding & towels

Look, enjoy your rant. You are complaining about something you really don’t understand and are also blowing out of proportion. A 3 bedroom condo that sleeps 7-10 people likely has 4 if not 5-6 loads of laundry for a normal machine. 1-2 loads of towels and 2-3 loads of sheets depending on how many it sleeps.

Again, I own a vacation rental. I also stay in them 3-4 times a year. I just stayed in one for a week in park city during spring break.

Cleaning a condo is a lot more than running one load of dishes and washing one set of sheets, at least for a multi family condo that most here are discussing.

Laundry is anywhere from 85 cents to $2/ lb to wash and fold. Assume about 15 lbs of laundry per bedroom, so $45 here.

You have amenities like soaps, shampoo, etc. again, that’s $10-20/ bedroom.

You didn’t mop the floor. You aren’t cleaning the windows. You aren’t cleaning the toilets, tubs, sinks.

I don’t disagree it’s expensive. It is. None of these costs are going away in America due to the cost of consumer goods and labor.
