My favorite was penne but the more I used it, the more I didn't like that it doubled/tripled in size. Mini penne would be really good. I like how the sauce gets on the inside of the noodle.

have you tried macaroni? traps gravy inside so it gets good flavor
the twisted or curls are also good pasta choices as well
if its not a spaghetti, then i rather any other pasta over spaghetti, i only like it for spaghetti
