It's all relative and would depend on the sport and position.

I don't think many Offensive and Defensive Linemen from the past would be able to play in today's game with there being a 40-50 lbs swing in size difference. Most skill positions would be fine.

The traditional big men of the past in NBA would probably struggle in modern NBA without being able to shoot. Guards and some forwards would be fine.

Baseball would probably have the most players that could play in modern era.

NBA—players from the 80s/early 90s have a better chance of dominating today’s game than today’s players have of dominating in the 80s. The hand check is the biggest difference between the two eras. The second is the quick whistle on fouls.
Its just absolutely ridiculous.

These guys are definitely too small and unathletic to compete today.

Shamgod played a total of 20 career NBA games. As usual you don’t know what you’re talking about

What’s amazing about these idiots who are modern onlyfans is they’ve never watched previous eras so they’re pretending to be experts on something they know nothing about. They’re box score nerds who are totally ignorant and only repeat things they see on TV or SM.

modern football teams would physically maul teams from the 80s The average offensive lineman in 1985 was 272 pounds. The avarage defensive line today goes Once again, the top players would be fine, but the average of the 80s gets crushed by the average today is 302 lbs The average defensive end now is 283 pounds. That’s bigger than the average offensive guard in the 80s

I agree with everything you said. I do think that your top stars back then would be fine, Bo Jackson, D Sanders, Montana, Marino etc. 80s and 90s middle LBs would be torched in today’s NFL. Some of your outside LBs like Lawrence Taylor and Pat Swilling would make it imo. Your elite DEs like Reggie White would make it

I always love these threads because you can automatically find the 55+ y/o white dudes that watch 3 basketball games a year give their sage wisdom

I’m not 55, I watch more basketball per year than you by far and I didn’t say anything about players going back in time or Bill Laimbeer. The fact that you thought throwing race in there made some kind of point just shows what kind of trash you are. Try again

This is silly.

Zone D is much bigger and helps the D more than losing the hand check helps the O

Did he not play during the era of the 2nd MJ 3-peat?

Did he not teach Kobe how to dribble?

He played 20 games so no and he played during the high school rush era which is never talked about because people like you want to fold it in with an era it doesn’t belong to and no he didn’t teach Kobe how to dribble. Wrong on all fronts.

I would have enjoyed seeing a manager go to the mound to pull Nolan Ryan after only 80 pitches with a perfect game on the line and six outs remaining.

Those managers wouldn’t do it because it was their call back then. Now a days the GMs run the team, even the on field decisions. Managers are just mascots now.

In the 80s after Curry hit 3 3's the next time he came in the lane a forward would hit him so hard he couldn't see straight to shoot another 3.

Why would he go into the lane? He would never have to enter the paint and would average 30 a night against those man defenses.

Please…Larry was a 3 time member of nba all defense second team. Criminally underrated as a team defender. The defensive schemes in today’s game that you tout so frequently cater to a player like Larry.

Granted injuries robbed him of a lot later in his career…..I’m talking prime Larry.

The fact he torched the league offensively with the back issues…..it’s really incredible….albeit a total diff conversation.

Definitely wouldn’t let him stand there with faux defense and shoot another 20 3s.
Guys don't play "faux defense" against Steph. They are constantly running around off ball screens (which would eat those defenses alive) 36 minutes a game. Curry does not stop moving.

Steph coming off screens. Watch this and tell me what those defenses could do to stop this? Nothing. And I despise Steph Curry.

You actually believe that’s some kind of modern, innovative action?
