Well, Jay is the one who went after him hard, so it's kinda on him. He is who he is.

But I think Jay was absolutely furious at Braswell's error Thursday that helped turn a 9-0 lead into a 9-6 real quick and made him burn Herring for Friday, which I think Jay thinks we win if Herring comes in for Jump. I'm not sure this is just letting Braswell sit or just getting Kucherak some midweek at-bats. Jay's desperate and is willing to try to unconventional moves.

I'm not sure this isn't a legit tryout for Kuch to get some actual playing time. I'm not saying he's going to take Braswell's job or anything--and that wasn't a great start to his night--but if Kuch finishes 3-4 and makes all the plays at short, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a start in Knoxville.

I've been around coaches like Jay before, and I really don't think he appreciated Braswell's effort against Vandy. I think that's partly just Bras's style of play, always looks loose. Fine if he's playing well, but start messing up and it looks like an effort thing, when it's probably not. But Jay knows he has to push some different buttons, and right now, Bras is low hanging fruit.

But before Lester accuses me of hating Braswell, let me just say I absolutely do not and think he's gonna wind up starting 90% of the rest of our games at short. I'm just trying to get in Jay's head. Jordan Thompson made a million errors the last 2 years, but he never came out of the lineup. Coaches don't like to sit their short-stops. But there was something different about Braswell's mistakes last weekend that seems to have really gotten Jay's goat.
