If you are going to make a choice between living on the Northshore or the Southshore then there is only one good choice for the Northshore. Western St Tammany Parish (Mandeville/Covington/Madisonville). Just drive the 20 minutes on I-12 to Slidell to work.

Slidell is a nice sized town with some very pleasant parts, everything everything Slidell is a bit boring, but New Orleans has to offer is a short drive away.

I don’t think anyone would choose Slidell over New Orleans unless they were actually from Slidell or already living in Slidell.

Amongst everything stated, the downside of Slidell is that dentist dude who scammed his long term disability insurance and used to brag about his national merit finalist kid.
