Born in '64 so came of age in the 70s.

Maybe they were a South Florida thing, but does anybody remember lightning bolt flip flops? They were huge in the early to mid 70s. Also, puka shell necklaces.

How about being trusted by your parents to ride your bicycle ALL day Saturday w/o supervision (and obviously w/o being tracked by a cell phone) even though you were only 16 years old?? The conversation would go something this: "Hey mom, _______ (insert the name of your best friend) and I are going to ride our bicycles and go out to Smith River (10 miles away). We'll be back in time for supper, ok?"
