If LSU had a guard class with Gilbert, Whitehorn and Shepard (rumors) thats a very nice guard portal class.

They gotta get a post player though, just as bad as anything else tbh. The problem is most of your top post players are do not contact transfers.

Beers just visited OU and its rumored the OSU associate HC is going to join OU's coaching staff. So not great...

That’s terrible let’s not sugar coat it. We have a guard who was kicked off of Arizona and does not like to play defense, a tall guard from Ark who has not lived up to her potential, and maybe Shepard who I give you is a big position of need. There is no buzz once so ever of a creditable post. Something is not adding up. What happen to all that bragging from Redius . He only signed 1 HS player who may or may not contribute by year 2 in 2024 and by the looks of it we are getting our butts kicked in the portal this cycle by other SEC teams. That’s not a winning formula to closing the gap with SC.

Excellent point

Kim is done, we should expect her to retire soon.

357 I did not mean it to sound like that. I just think we are getting negativity recruited and it is showing by the results.

The Morrow announced signing was around the first of May last year, right? When was HVL announced?
Thinking we’ll know publicly in the next week or two whose on board.

I don’t disagree that the 2024 hs class was a major frick up but my take is a bit different on this portal class. They have visits behind closed doors with more visits in the works in the coming weeks. They have purposely been quiet about everything.

LSU as it stands has 3 all conference players in its starting lineup (Morrow, Flaujae, MK). No one outside of SC has that… Smith is coming back and she was poised for a Flaujae like breakout last season before the injury. Replacing Reese in a offseason is not realistic but bringing in another big who can help rebound and play their role is important. I like HVL but her production will easily be replaced and upgraded to fit the mold of how Kim likes to play. Everything else is all about bringing in players to come off the bench. Most of your marquee transfers aren’t coming to lsu to come off the bench which is why lsu has been targeting players like Ruby and Gilbert.

Let’s let this play out first. If they don’t land anyone of substance (which they will but if they don’t) then we can bicker

Some good points there. 3 of our starting positions (maybe 4 if you want to include Smith) are basically locked up right now. A lot of portal players are in there because they want more playing time.

I know things,it is all good....and for those saying a player has a bad rep from before, what happened with A Morris-kicked off or left 4 programs-comes to LSU becomes a top rate PG and defensive stopper, helps lead us to a NC. Kim ONLY takes players who can work in her system.

Oh but HVL, you mean the HVL and her team who went to elite 8 and lost close game to the hottest team at that time, that HVL, on the team that won over 30 games...I know HVL did not live up to all the hype- but she was key in some big wins when things looked rough- at TN, In Bahamas, at Ole Miss etc

Thank you for this!
I was thinking the exact same thing. Gilbert may have just had a problem with Adia Barnes coaching style. That does NOT mean she won't work out here, with a coach who will more than likely command more respect from her.

if you are interested, here are some high school recruit summaries. it's always interesting to me to see what offers they had before they committed anywhere. looks like ruby had a lsu offer (old staff), so guessing this means at least she has visited lsu in the past. and looks like gary may have recruited some at vanderbilt.

I really don’t understand the naysayers in this thread. We just lost in the Elite 8 to possibly the best Womans player ever, who if she shoots in our game like she did against UConn and usc we probably win and go to the final four where anything can happen. This is the year after we win the natty. We have 3 all-sec players coming back all with the potential to be first team all-Americans. Smith last year was greatly improved and was our best player at the beginning of the year at some parts before her injury. Del Rosario was the top post coming out of high school last year and greatly improved throughout the year. If she improves in the offseason like smith did last year she will be great. Then you have poa who played the last two years. That’s 6 players and Kim usually only plays 7 or 8. Whoever transfers could probably only start at PG or C and they would have to compete for those spots.

tigerbait 357, I am surprised HVL has not announced a school yet. Is there still a chance she could come back?
