Angel is 100% keeping all her NiL deals and has built her own brand for the long haul so she is set IMO

With that said the poster is correct, it’s ridiculously hard to grow your brand in the wnba unless you are one of the top 4 or 5 players in the league. The attention, exposure and draw is not very good in the W in general.

If Williams starts next year she needs to step up. HVL gets a lot of flak here, but I literally can’t remember the last game I thought Williams had a significant impact in. If you think Van Lith is slow on D, Williams is molasses.

Mikaylah Williams is going to be an all-time great on the level of Semoine Augustus. The biggest frick up of this season was the way she was stupidly neglected in this offense. She was used as an afterthought. We should have been running the offense through her and setting screens and picks to get her looks. She’s the best deadeye shooter in the country except for Clark.

Next year she needs to be the first option on offense, not the last. Yes, I know right now tons of people are posting in the WBB threads that just started watching with the Iowa game and haven’t followed the team closely all year. These Johnny-come-latelies are spouting their dead-wrong takes with: “Ooh! MKW ain’t very good!”

I’m not saying the above applies to you. I don’t know. But we stupidly neglected and did not use the best fricking offensive weapon we had this season. We never let her get into a zone.

CKM needs to declare at the first practice: “This is now Mikaylah Williams’s team.”

I don’t disagree that Mikayla can be great but she needs to be more consistent. She has spurts where she is awe inspiring offensively. Her shot is a thing of beauty when she is on. However, she makes way too many lazy/bad passes and has inexplicable unforced turnovers like bouncing the ball off her foot or double dribbling. She also has to step up her defense. Maybe with Angel gone she will get more aggressive and active. It seemed this year she was caught watching instead of reacting. She can be as good as she wants to be but she needs to be more vocal and be a leader.

lol comparing a true freshman to a sr after a year in which the 18 year old outplayed the sr all year

The frick you mean “if” she starts

MK is a way better player than HVL. You saw glimpses this year, how good do you think she’s gonna be as a sr

You comparing lateral quickness between a 5’7 pg and a 6’1 wing

The deadline is 48 hours from when the game ended Monday. I can’t remember what time it was over…maybe 8:30?

Dude she was a true freshman this year of course she has stuff to work on

The fact that you expect so much out of her alone should tell you how good she really is

My comment was in response to this comment on another post:

“Williams and Johnson are the starting shooting guards. And you can bet that CKM is NOT running back the HVL-Poa PG situation. Williams and Johnson will be joined in the backcourt by the best damn portal PG Kim can get.”

That’s why I compared them. Suggesting that Williams is quick enough to not be a liability as a PG or SG—as the poster implied—is inaccurate.

As a SF, sure.

I think she can be very good on offense but right now she really only uses the spot up 3 and the drive and pop midrange shot.

I’m assuming if we haven’t heard anything publicly, it means she’s either staying or entering the transfer portal.

She could be leaving and not going to the portal or the draft.

No.

The offense should have ran through Flau’jae this year, which is what they should do next year as well.

That’s what it seems like. HVL seems like the low profile type so maybe we shouldn’t be expecting any grandiose announcement.

Mikayla and Flau'jae are going to wreck some shite next year.

Morrow will too, those 2 are going to be hell for opposing guards.

Williams did get hurt as well toward end of year so I don't even know if she ever was 100% during the NCAA tourney

The offense is gonna look a lot different without Reese getting her touches and I think the overall flow of the offense will be much better

I wouldn't be shocked at anything at this point, but HVL to the transfer portal would be my lean.

Not nearly ready for pro ball and there really isn't room for her here next year.

And to think, this post got downvoted to hell
