Nah. While the first half is funny, the second half is just pure arse.

It's sort of the comedy version of Full Metal Jacket.

Good analogy.

Second half is way too busy...you almost lose the main characters.

Love this movie. Lots of gratuitous t&a also.

Had a thing for PJ Soles way back then.

She was Winters in Pvt. Benjamin but not nearly as hot with black hair.

It's kinda the gold standard. There's very little break in the gags.

It's probably not to the level of funniest ever but The Jerk with Steve Martin always cracks me up when I watch it.

I’d have to say the two funniest I’ve watched are Blazing Saddles and Porky’s.

It’s funny but no - it’s not a top tier comedy.

No.
Not even Bill Murray’s funniest movie ever made.

As a young boy I secretly watched this movie while home alone. The mud wrestling scene was damn near porn for me at that age.

Stripes is definitely up there, but for me it's a tie between The Jerk and Big Lebowski.

I didn't realize until recently that Bill Paxton was in Stripes as "Unnamed Soldier".

Maybe not the funniest, but for that era, I had Blues Brothers, Stripes, Animal House and Caddyshack up on my Mt. Rushmore of comedy movies.

That's the fact, Jack!
