Obsessive cost control. It’s in the companies dna. He’s told me some stories about looking at stores and how much they could spend for real estate and construction and it made me realize how neurotic they are. The reason every store is the same is because of the efficiency. I think they only have something like 3 floor plans and they’re only slightly different.

I've never had a bad meal at WH. There are some high end restaurants I can't say that about.

Also, isn’t some of the structure built as modular parts and preassembled at a factory and shipped to the restaurant site for final assembly and finishing touches. It is part of the reason why some sites are so narrow.
The nice thing about Waffle House is that if you are on the Mississippi Gulf coast, the Waffle Houses are short spaced a few miles apart. The only bad thing is that each location is elevated while parking is at ground level.
