Good player and would be McMahon's highest ranked recruit for this cycle. The question is with seemingly limited spots available does it make more sense to take a HS player vs. a transfer? Particularly when McMahon has generally been reluctant to give true freshman big roles (unless out of necessity, like Mike Williams this year with Cook out to start the season) and the fact that college basketball is now "older" with more major conf. teams opting for 3, 4, 5 year transfers over true freshmen.

LSU had 5 definite spots with Baker, Dean, Wright, Hannibal, and Wilkinson moving on. Cook seems likely to move on as well (though nothing official has been stated). That would be 6 spots IF LSU someone on the team would be willing to be a non-scholarship player to fulfill LSU's 1 scholarship reduction penalty this season.

LSU already has two HS signees plus Cam Carter transferring in. Miller would make the 4th new addition leaving only 2, maybe 1 more spot available for a transfer. If McMahon is going to sign 3 HS players, that's fine...as long has he intends to use them. I don't think he can afford to let them sit most of the season like he did with Ward and Phillip in year 1, or redshirt a guy like he did with Chest this season. He lost a lot of production from this past season with Baker, Wright, Hannibal, Dean, and Cook out. That has to be replaced.
