I've not had any this year. They can keep them at these prices. I'd rather have shrimp or steaks anyway.

same...

for me the boil and time with family is what i'm really doing it for anyway.... i'm not a crawfish diehard, like some people, not that there's anything wrong with that.... but i just don't have to have crawfish, if that makes sense

We did 60# of 12-16 count shrimp @$4/lb for about 40 ppl yesterday and with the apps it was still too much food. It would have cost us $560 more to serve crawfish and although price plays a factor quality rules and we couldn’t find consistently decent sized crawfish.

I've eaten it once or twice in my life. I'm not even sure how to peel them. It's too much trouble. I'm antisocial. Nobody invites me to crawfish boils and I wouldn't want to go without my dogs.

As others have said… shrimp

You can get heads off frozen shrimp for 10$ a pound. They boil great. Historically, shrimp were so much more expensive than crawfish.
I love me some shrimps.

Nah. I have no interest in paying any money at all for crawfish.

Would it be weird to have a crawfish boil with all the fixings, just skip the. crawfish?

There is such thing as a shrimp boil, not as common as a crawfish boil though.

It sure doesn't sound like it is. Every comment before yours said they didn't like them all that much and they only ever ate them because of the "social aspect". It sounds like a bunch of schizophrenics.

Out of curiosity I have been living in Florida for 20 years so would not know but what would be a fair price for the crawfish?

When they figure that out they will let you know.

I'm with you. We have 3 couples/families that have gotten together 4 times already this year and split the cost. When they were more expensive, we were each around $100 a family for the crawfish and fixings. They have since come down. We would have spent at least that if we would have all gone out to eat. We rather eat all the crawfish we care to eat and hang out on the patio.

You Cajuns should have never let the rest of the world know about crawfish. There are not enough to go around when you’re shipping them all over the country.

Last year there were almost too many crawfish

If more people had willpower like you and I, we’d be able to get them for beween 2 and 3 bucks. But no, they have to try to show off and buy crawfish at really high prices to keep up with the Joneses.

They really shouldn't be over 2.75/lb.
