I’ve been hearing all the hype about Dune, is it worth checking out?

Well if you haven't seen the first one watch it. If you liked the first one you'll like this one.

I thought it was a good watch, but I’m not a big movie critic as long as I can vibe with the general story line/genre

Dune 2 was one of the best movies I've seen in the theaters in years

I'm not at all a science fiction/fantasy aficionado, but I think both Dune movies are completely bad arse.

A cool and well structured but wide scope other worldly movie.

If you’re high on the attention level and detail, it’s a prime watch.
If you’re more a “low maintenance, background look up for important things” viewer, nah, weeknight/off hours watch.

It was kind of cheesy but dune 2 was definitely an experience in imax. I wouldn’t watch it again tho

I read the book before part 1 dropped and really enjoyed both movies. I think the book really helped understand the terminology and different factions. Even though I kind of knew what was going to happen I still had a good time watching them

It's decent enough, imo. Worth the time if you're into sci-fi stuff.

My wife is into Dune, seen all the movies, read the books up to where Part II is supposed to cut off. She went to see Dune 2 yesterday on her day off, and said she hated it. It pissed her off due to some liberties the director took from the source material. I'm not a Dune person so I can't tell you specifics, but she wasn't happy.

The first one is a pretty solid sci-fi movie but the second one does get a little weird - as does the story in the book. I thought it was pretty faithful but if you didn’t read and enjoy the book I could see where it could be a bit long and tedious with some of the political and mystical stuff.

Watch the one from the 80s first, while sober, so you can go, "WTF is going on?" for most of the movie. The recent two movies will make far more sense if you've watched the 80s original.

DV is the best in Sci fi
Even if you don’t like the story, it’s still worth it
Paul’s first worm ride was as dope as anything you’ll ever watch
