Smart people lean liberal. Greedy sociopaths lean conservative.

I know plenty of K&S attorneys who aren't all lib. But, I do think it'll be hard to find very many people who would fit in here.
Big law has more republican votes than you'd think, but it'll be a lot of people who'll trash Trump to progressive friends and then quietly vote R.
As for IP lawyers, good one and I'm not sure. Would lean solidly D I assume.

Let's assume for discussion that 70-80% of lawyers are D voters, would this also mean that 70% of judges are potentially D voters because most judges were at one lawyers?
If this ^^^ is true then it's obvious the current judicial system is rigged to favor the Fundamental Transformation of America and to squash any attempt by America First/MAGA to pushback against the Fundamental Transformation of America.
What do you think the total breakdown is across society?
Probably at least 55%

What do you call 1000 lawyers laying deep on the ocean floor?
Answer: A good start.

Does this include actual practicing lawyers or pompous assholes with a law degree as well?

I think that's probably close to accurate, although I think the Insurance Defense might be lower (35%).
You don't have government attorneys, which I think are probably 50%,

My guess is that people underestimate the number of R voters in traditionally D categories (in part because those practitioners exist all over and often in deep red areas - plenty of rural/semi rural PI guys are probably hunt/fish/quiet Trump types).
I also think people overestimate the number of R voters in traditionally R categories (corporate, M&A, etc.) because those professions exist almost solely in cities and close in suburban areas.

Probably about 80% Ds.
Most lawyers are not baws. They want to win with words and process and personal connections. Not really men and women of action. This militates more towards the Democrat party demographic.

Over 100% because of how many times dead ones vote.
Posted on 3/28/24 at 12:59 pm to Bass Tiger
100%
Oh wait, I thought the question was how many are (D)ouchebags?

That’s probably the best guess here.

I know two old retired ones who are very conservative. One is a former DA and the other dabbled in many areas but hung his hat on litigating against the government. He said suing local governments was easy because they are completely incompetent, usually you just embarrass the shite out of them with your filing, and they settle pretty quickly.
I know a third old one, not yet retired, family law, very very liberal.
The younger ones are all liberal, very liberal. There are many in my family.

I know a few lawyers who are very liberal.. I always give them a beating over their choice..
My dad was a lawyer and was a delegate to the republican party in the later 70's early 80's.
So I guess it's a mix..

slowflowpro is at the top of that list, the ambulance chasing bum.
Posted on 3/28/24 at 1:34 pm to Bass Tiger
Probably 60 to 65% - there are red state prosecutors, corporate attorneys, insurance defense, transactional attorneys that would tend to defy the traditional ambulance chaser, criminal defense "commie lib" stereotype.

It attracts a lot of "do gooders" and idealists.
I hate activism but Democrats are outworking Republicans by a long shot.
