I still suspect Stewart hits the road so we can get 2 more full scholarship players from the portal, a PG and big man.

Perhaps. But LSU's season has been over for 3 weeks now. If he's leaving there doesn't seem to be any reason to delay the process. Both for him and LSU.

Then we can also fill out the roster with another Hunter Dean type transfer who is a walk on supplemented with NIL so we dont go over 12 scholarship players. Or maybe stewart stays and we just get a Hunter Dean type big man, I wouldnt think that would attract a decent enough big though with walk on/NIL to supplement. It would also leave us incredibly questionable/weak at the big man spot with no true "thats your guy" there, unless Reed or Collins take some MASSIVE leap next season or the freshman coming in is extremely good (Rob Miller)...or Chest for some reason is actually elite

Dean was a grad student from Louisiana. I don't know how his "costs" were paid (I doubt he was paying his own tuition, room, board, etc). But that is kind of a pretty specific niche to find if you want a contributor to not be on scholarship.

12 scholarship players is plenty. Hell, LSU did just that this season by redshirting Chest. And LSU does have size/length in the frontcourt. They just don't have a guy right now who you can simply dump the ball into the post and have him go one-one-one with his back to the basket. But, frankly, is that even necessary? LSU's had two "Centers" who had high usage rates. Williams and Baker. Neither were particularly dynamic players. They both could score around the rim and pop out for a spot up 3 (though Williams was MUCH better at doing so). Regardless, LSU's offensive (and defensive) numbers sucked in both years. So do they really NEED another type player? You can have an efficient offense with long 6'9, 6'10 players who can operate on the perimeter. You just have to mold your overall approach to fit their skill set. Far too many times with Baker and Reed on the floor together they just got in each other's way.

IMO, LSU MUST get a PG who can control the game. They don't HAVE to have a Baker/Williams type center.

I don’t think people get this. You rotate 9 players, at most. If you think you need 13-14 on your roster, you definitely have some that you can get rid of. Simply not enough minutes for that.

It’s kind of the same situation as the football team a few years ago when the roster was so mismanaged that people wanted us to grey shirt every non top 247 recruit so we can sign 40 players.

Exactly. When it comes down to it great guard play is the key to success in conference play and the tournament. We don’t essentially need a 7 footer but a guard who can control the game and go get a bucket when we need it is what this roster has to have.
