Watching the live feed of the bridge before the collapse, it seems to have hit when the bridge only had construction workers on it. It was the slowest point in the moments leading up to the collapse, which is a silver lining.
This stuff fascinates me. If a few of those people who crossed right before the collapse would have taken a minute longer to leave the house this morning they’d be in the river right now.

It’s the middle of the night. News rooms aren’t exactly fully staffed at this time. It takes time for networks to contact local authorities or the local news outlets to confirm before they just throw it on air.
ABC early morning news covered it a few minutes ago.
