This country is stupid.

A 101 and a 112 down voted you.

Shipping company didn't have insurance? Or frick the American taxpayers?

My first reaction was the same, but I remembered the tax dollars that SE Louisiana received over the last several decades.

Cut that bridge into pieces It is their last resort

A ship beached itself outside of the port of Brunswick and it probably took 3 years to cut it into pieces. Now they weren’t super urgent I think as they still had some room to get ships in and out of the port but still, it’s not a quick process and I believe that a lot of fires started when doing the process

Maritime law limits liability to the value of the vessel involved, the owner will basically hand over the deed to the ship and walk away

You are stupid. Sorry but Your Posts have stupid written all over them.

You should probably learn how to type. Why do you have two unnecessary breaks in your post? Did you copy and paste that from somewhere?

This right here.
Maritime law was used by the barge company when they hit the I40 bridge and sent it into the Arkansaw. This happened 250 mile upriver from the Gulf. The families of those that went down with the bridge--something like 14 hardly got squat.

I'm pretty sure you can see the port anchor go out like 20 seconds before they hit. Those ships are usually single screw with slow speed main engines and a basic generator plant. My guess is they tripped the plant and lost steering. There's basically no chance the main engine would have shut down. It takes 30 to 45 seconds for the emergency generator to come online and with the timing of it all, that was more than enough time for it to wreck.

I noticed this morning that there were way more tugs helping ships up the Savannah River. There’s another one on the opposite side and a random one just following along and one in the front you can’t see.
