If they confirmed only 7 vehicles, did they find all 7?

It is a silver lining that so few vehicles were on the bridge, but could you imagine being a weary-eyed longshoreman going into work? You head up the bridge approach like you've done for years only to find out that the bridge isn't there anymore. Hopefully, those people had good brakes.

It’s through Bermuda, but essentially the same thing.

My first thought.

I wonder how many ships are now blocked in the harbor as well.

No.

Sometimes there's legitimate mechanical/electrical failures. They just typically aren't in the worst possible place at the worst possible time like what happened here.

A ship like this would have generators, right?

Yes, multiple.

It wouldnt necessarily have to be a fire. It could be any number of things. Like I mentioned in my previous post, could be as simple as a clogged filter.

That was my thoughts too. I don’t know what’s in that area or the layout. But my first question is, is there a carrier or a strategic asset that is now stuck or delayed.

Just saw this on twitter. Guess it’s from presser:

quote:

The crew of ship that hit the Baltimore's, Francis Key Bridge Alerted authorities of a power outage .. There was a Mayday that stopped cars coming over the bridge .. ~Per Maryland Governor, Wes Moore

I wonder if the 7 cars that went in were the construction vehicles. That doesn’t explain the semi though

I would think a Channel pilot was in charge of the vessel at that time.

Def not terrorists or intentional. You can see in the videos the ship loses power, restarts, then loses power again before drifting to its right and hitting the bridge. The black smoke billowing upon the first restart shows that likely the main diesels shut down and had to be restarted. The steering would probably be linked to the power from the main motors, not generators. Could be something as simple as a power distribution system breaker tripping, like one in your house.

Based on initial observations it looks like the boat lost steering right before it approached the bridge. Very bad timing and luck. At least it didnt occur when more people were on the bridge.

Looking at the AIS there are quite a few.....I just checked the route of the ship and they have just left port less than a mile away

The Governor said that the mayday was in time to stop SOME of the traffic. It could be that one side was blocked before the other, which would explain why some were still coming right-to-left.

The construction vehicles were parked on the bridge at the time of impact.

Since we’re throwing out conspiracy theories has anybody checked in on Boeing this morning?

This seems like exactly the new coverage they needed to get out of the cycle for a while.
