He’s not moving to DT.
The SDE position—as was mentioned in the announcement—will play a 4i technique, which is within the B-gap. But this is not the same as a 3-tech DT or a 0-shade NT.

That is cool that some people love using buzz words and coach speak about gap this and technique that. I'm not being sarcastic, but quite frankly what I care about is inside DL or playing on the end of the DL. IMO, the use of terms has gotten way overused. Now, the new DC has come up with "star" as a new football word. Football is tackling and blocking along the LOS...that is it.
The bottom line in general: Interior DL are bigger, slower, and are more efficient at stopping the run and less of a pass rusher. Outside DL (EDGE, DE, whatever) are lighter, faster, and are supposed to contain and rush the passer more.
