re: Main Reason for Having Health Insurance

Health insurance is all about having peace of mind. If I paid premiums and never used it, then that would mean I have a healthy life and should be thankful of that. On the other hand if a serious accident happened or a disease was discovered, I would be in good hands to address it.

It's an expense that I am happy with.

I worked offshore with provided health insurance provided the employee pays a discounted premium. It was amazing how many people did not have insurance (they wanted more cash), middle aged men who had never been to a doctor in 5 years or more, periodontal disease out the arse because of no dental checkups and nipping issues in the bud. It was not common to see middle aged men drop dead.
