I was referring to the dudes bucky is regularly warring with, hence saying it directly to him in that context. It’s not a global statement about Trump people, goodness

That should be obvious to anyone that actually wants to have an honest discussion.

Same with my response. Do I think every one of the millions that have voted for Trump in the primaries is a part of the cult we see here? Of course not. Rather, it's a small group overall.

I'm not offering my opinion because it's not relevant to my point.

I'm not trying to convince you to agree with me. I'm not making that case at all. Maybe that's what aggravates you so much.

I was expressing an opinion of how this specific decision will likely impact Desantis.

I suspect you agree and want to argue about whether that's fair or not.

Trump hasn’t.

I disagree with that. I figured out in 2016, like I presumed most people did (which I was obviously wrong about given the last 8 years), that what Donald Trump says at rallies or when he’s trolling the media is not meant to be serious or literal.

You've used the term cult how many times in this one thread?

quote:

Same with my response. Do I think every one of the millions that have voted for Trump in the primaries is a part of the cult we see here? Of course not. Rather, it's a small group overall.

Ok, I'll give you an honest discussion response.

Trump's support levels...the levels that sunk Desantis and every other candidate have nothing to do with the existence of a cult.

If you are making a case that a "small group overall" has adopted Trump a a cult, who cares. That's not meaningful. It doesn't explain anything that happened at the macro level of the primary. And, it doesn't explain why Desantis' decision not to campaign for Trump will hurt him in the long run.

Now, we both know what you've posted in the past. Maybe you were just trolling.

But, the reality is that Desantis and his supporters in very large part have misread the Republican electorate to a major degree. I realize it's been frustrating. I'm just suggesting that you are doing it again.

Doesn’t change the fact that he and his people-like Steve Cheung today-are still going after DeSantis.

I’m not surprised that RDS is not going all out for Trump-and his voters would have been disappointed if he did. I think that Trump’s known this for a while, that’s why his people have not let up on RDS since he dropped out, and now Trump’s going public on him. My thinking is that he wants to destroy RDS, no matter how the election turns out. He’ll never forgive RDS.

What RDS has going for him is his youth, his record, and his self-discipline. He’s in it for the long haul,

He’ll be back.

Exactly. For 6 months all we heard is that DeSantis needs to get back to be Governor of Florida. And now the usual suspects criticize.

You are the second person to say this, but nobody up until your post has criticized him or said anything different than “he has a state to run”.

What are you talking about?

Didn’t you claim awhile back that you weren’t consumed with Donald Trump? You sure sound like you’re consumed with Donald Trump.

You'll look back on this (if we survive people like you) in probably 10 years and realize I was right.
Maybe? But the last two election cycles don't look so good for the Trump movement. Two winnable failures to take the Senate, and barely squeeked by in the house despite terrible economic and security performance by the Biden administration. When do you suppose it's going to turn around? And more imporantly... why?

How does he work with RINOs? Is he able to convince RINOs by giving them something in return or does he just win them over with his charisma? Saying Desantis can work with the swamp isn't the ringing endorsement you think it is.

Nah, I think you read too much into Trump. Reference Lie'n Ted vs Lion Ted. If RDS and Vivek show loyalty in the future to the Trump cause, he'll reward them. That's politics. However, loyalty or the lack thereof could have negative consequences. I think his temporary acceptance of folks like Mattis, Fauci, and Bolton in the face of the media was to show how their philosophies were not congruent to American prosperity.

I don't see his angle against Ron is treated the same. I guess we'll see in time.
