I dont know why the formatting from the pdf messes up the words, but you can figure it out. Dude was completing straw purchases and selling guns to felons and drug dealers and probably some innocent people as well.

Sounds like the guy knew he was doing shady stuff, but somehow I don’t think the 6 am raid was needed.

Dude had a shootout at his house? Why do you think arresting him at the airport would have had a better outcome? He was already paranoid, driving erratically for months.

The ATF is dumb, but it would have been more dumb to try to arrest him at public with innocent people around.

But I still can't figure out why the hell they thought doing a 0600a warrant was the way to go. Terrible call.

You think it’s better for him to get a shower and some breakfast first? Maybe read the paper?

He made his decision when he started shooting.

The home raid was not a perfect solution, it probably was merely the best solution of all the not great options.

Grab him in a routine traffic stop

I can say 100% without doubt that they'd be met with gunfire if they kick in his door at 6am

Where is the line drawn between selling a gun to a friend and needing to be an authorized dealer?

Is it like a set number per month?

How much does an Airport Executive Director earn?

If a Glock cost him $450 or so, how much could he sell it to a gang banger for?

The financials of this scheme seem to be poor at best.

Maybe he had a drug problem or something?

More than $450. We'll probably never get the real story since they x him out.

I have crazy uncles with more pistols than that.. So they knew the guy was buying/selling, couldn't they have knocked on his door or caught him at work and asked "hey bro-dude our records show you've bought what we at the ATF would call an excessive amount of handguns and we'd like to talk to you about that". 150 guns in a 3 year period and they recovered almost a 100.. So he sold ~50 guns in 3 years?

Yeah he definitely deserved to die...

eta- and what happened to all the drugs and cartel guns he was runnin??

Yeah if you ignore the part where the guy was routinely straw purchasing for thugs and cholo gangbangers, then shot at police when they tried serving a warrant, he really did nothing wrong at all. Seemed like a real law and order type of guy

Why? That was the earliest they could've gone based on the warrant, right? I'd have gone earlier if I could.
