THIS! I found myself one time getting frustrated with my 7 year old daughter because she would make a good swing and then change everything the next swing. I looked up some pointers and blogs and realized at that age, it’s just important to expose them to it in a fun way. In order for them to eventually get good and take lessons, they first have to want to keep doing it.
As stated by other posters, the fact that they’re spending time with you is enough. I got into golf because it was an opportunity every few days to go out with my dad. Eventually I found something fun to do (play near the pond, throw golf balls close to the hole, etc.) And then it just grew from there.
But the water balloon thing… my daughter loves it!!
