What’s he up to at practices?

I hope he and his family are doing ok after the loss of his daughter in law, as best they can be at least.

It seems from the outside that they’re doing well. Steve Jr. got back into coaching and just left Ruston High as a qb coach to coach the same position at Zachary.

Apparently Carly always tried to push him into coaching and after she passed he threw himself into it. I don’t know the guy but I’m proud of him.

I must have missed something - when did the “Slinger” thing start? I knew Steve in high school, watched him play QB as a fellow student at LSU, followed his career through all the various stops until he came back here - never heard anyone call him “Slinger” until just a few years ago. I know he couldn’t care less, but just wondering how/when that started.

It’s really just a term coined by Millennials on this board.

Coach E being at practice is really cool actually. Not sure if BK and crew are speaking with him about specifics or if he just wanted to see the team.

I do know he is friends with Joe Sloan, so I wouldn’t be shocked if JS asked him to come by every now and then and give thoughts.

The guy really is an awesome football mind. He deserves his retirement, but bringing him in on small assignments during the offseason and regular season might prove useful to this staff.

Yep. Situational play calling etc, it doesn't hurt to have another set of eyes, especially like his.

I have some close friends that have been friends with him since HS, so I got to throw down at Houmas House years ago at one of their kid’s wedding reception with him. Can confirm, he is a hoot to drink with.
