I think most people would get 100% behind any location on campus

I hope they build an exact replica of the Moody Center at The University of Texas, like stated in the article. That arena is world class.

Friday nights are when their meets are and that's a popular night for concerts

Big cities generally get Friday night performances. Baton Rouge does not fall into that. They would likely get a midweek performance. That's based on how a lot of musical acts go.

Zero faith that LSU will be able to get this done in a way that the developer doesn’t screw them 6 ways from Sunday

How about the North side of Aster Street? Expand LSU's campus and bulldoze that area

We aren't talking about U2 and Taylor Swift. They aren't coming to Baton Rouge anyway. There are plenty of acts that would perform in Baton Rouge on a Friday.

Regardless, I don't think a multi-purpose facility would block off 6 Fridays in a 10-week period, which is what they would have to do for gymnastics.

How about we blow up Kirby Smith and put it there. Kirby Smith was a shithole 20 years ago.

Edit- just realized they knocked it down a couple years ago

It's going to be the most amazing venue in Louisiana, but rantards will still complain.

They hate progress....hate it. Takes away their ability to bitch about the lack of progress.

Traffic is horrible they say. They're widening the roads!....oh hell no, that may take a minute and inconvenience me getting to the crawfish boil.

1. Some firm decisions have already been made such as: (a) the PMAC will not be demolished. It will become the primary practice facility for MBB/WBB and remodeled for AD office space. (b) New facility will be owned by the developer, for a 30-year lease from LSU. LSU will reserve it for 60-70 events a year. LSUAD takes ownership after the lease is over.

2. Capacity/design/construction of the new building will be up to the lessee in cooperation with the LSUAD.

My hope is that the capacity for MBB and WBB will be at least 12K and not 10K or 9K like so many newer arenas.

I don’t know how to attach images so I’ll just explain.

I went to moody center while in Austin to check it out. Awesome arena. There are two configurations. Event/concert where all seats are open and then basketball where there is no upper deck. Suites all around. It’s an awesome venue. Also I think a hotel close is apart of the deal. If I could post a pic I would

think the biggest issue with this is where are the basketball teams supposed to play while this is happening? Because you know this isnt a 8 month project.

They should raze the neighborhood north of campus and put it there.

Two locations that have already been researched and vetoed for being cost prohibitive—the PMAC and Bernie Moore track.

So what are they going to do with the PMAC and the bball practice facility?

I have not been to campus is years. Do they still have the cow farm out there?
