He was an absolutely awesome player for LSU (one of the greatest ever)

What?

He's one of the most overrated LSU players ever, especially when people think of him like this. He had 209 tackles in his 3 year career, which was respectable. He had a whopping 18 tackles for a loss as a blitzing safety and a measly 5 career interceptions.

Insane to think he he is one of the greatest LSU players ever.

He is absolutely one of the best players in LSU history. I didn't say he was Joe Burrow, but there aren't 5 safeties (out of hundreds) that I'm choosing over Jamal Adams.

After this absurd resume was built he was traded and was perpetually injured.

First-team All-Pro (2019)
2× Second-team All-Pro (2018, 2020)

ETA:

Furthermore, if you look up the stats you knocked, you'll see he produced a ton against top SEC competition.

How?

He came in as a freshman in 2014 and helped turn around that awful defense and finished the season as one of the top defenses in the country. In 2015 everyone had growing pains under Steele. In '16 he was lights out as a box safety.

Doesn't help that he's not a great fit for today's defense either.

He's a prototype "linebacker" in modern defenses. Maybe, even developed as an edge rusher in an alternate reality, if he was just entering college.

Whenever I think of Jamal Adams, I think of Derrick Henry rag-dolling him in 2015 like he was a baby.

He got paid tho.

Injuries have just done him in
The most recent was gruesome and brutal too. Props for him putting in the rehab work to come back at all.

Jamal Adams is still a top 5 most sure tackler I've ever seen in LSU pads. He wrapped your legs and put you down on the mat every time in the open field.

Then why can’t he tackle in the league?
