Guy has unreal arm talent.
So did Jamarcus Russell
quote:
He works hard and he understands the game.
They did a breakdown and he's so set on throwing off schedule and making the highlight play that he slows down his average release time by like 3 seconds compared to his peers, even when he has a clean pocket.
Will he be able to move from an air raid system to a traditional under center QB with play action and doing 5 to 7 step drop backs? Scramble around and throw it up QB's don't usually have a ton of success long term because it's not sustainable.

quote:Who determines the value of the team then to figure out how much a 0.005% stake in the team is worth? Nobody ever knows the real value until a few billionaires get into bidding wars when a team is up for sale, which is a rarity.
It doesn’t have to. The equity should count against the salary cap
ETA: what other sports have players who’ve gotten equity in the team included as part of a player contract? I know soccer with Messi but he’s also already proven himself as tGOAT and I’m not sure that soccer even has a salary cap, especially considering how so many major pro leagues there in different countries

I cannot wait for that dude to be a bust.

Like yeah the entourage thing with his dad is unorthodox but the media has painted this dude like he’s Jalen Carter when it couldn’t be any further from the truth.
bullshite. The media has done nothing but kiss his arrogant arse and hype him as the next Mahomes. There are a LOT of warning signs here but the media refuses to address them because they don't want to be called racist.
Hell, one of the biggest red flags has nothing to do with off field stuff. He has a lot of Justin Fields in him in that he holds the ball forever and a day and takes way too many sacks/hits that he shouldn't because he's always looking to make the flashy hero play.
quote:
He brought a couple of Utah kids to the SC Utah game after their dad died. Hung out with them after the game and took a pic with them.
Did he wash the "frick Utah" paint off of his fingernails first?

There’s 52 players on a roster. 100 total percentage points to own a team.
How much does a single player honestly think they could EVER get? .5% On a $5 billion evaluation, 0.1% is worth $500 mil….

Comparing Russell to Caleb is the laziest dumb take ever. Jamarcuss Russel started one full season at LSU. Everyone was horny about him because he could throw the ball 60 yards from his knees. Caleb has 30+ starts and has been one of the best QBs in CFB all 3 years he started.

His play style is comparable to Mahomes. What is so crazy about that? Nobody is saying he is Patrick Mahomes. That would be crazy. And I’ve heard more direct comparisons to Rodgers in terms of his build and play style.
Also the time to throw stat is BS too. His number is higher due to his ability to play off script and out of the pocket. His real number is closer to 2.5.
"If you take away the plays in which they fully broke down and he was moved off of his spot, if you take those away, his time to throw within structure is exactly like everybody else's," Sikkema said on the NFL Stock Exchange podcast with Connor Rogers. The time would have been around 2.5 or 2.6 seconds” according to Sikkema.

I just don’t understand what I’m missing here.
Yes, I’ve seen the above-average arm talent.
But this is a dude that paints his fingernails, literally curls up in his moms lap on national TV and cries after losing, talks about wanting to go home and cry on his couch, and wants a f’n ownership share in your franchise before he even puts on the uniform….
How is this guy the face of your franchise? How does he lead a locker room? Someone is going to draft him to be exactly that and for the life of me I can’t understand why.

All the reports out of the combine this weekend were that he was very prepared and impressive in his interviews.
“Last player to leave the field Saturday night after the drills? Caleb Williams. Hung and said goodbye to all the folks who ran the drills and worked the event.”
“When we interviewed Caleb this week, he made a point to introduce himself to our entire production crew. May seem like a small thing but that’s a rare gesture in our business.”

Guy has a lot of personality red flags and I heard a scout say to him the biggest thing was his inability to make the easy throws, the nfl is all about taking the yards given to you and hitting the big play eventually when it’s there. Caleb seems to always be trying to make a big play with a hero ball mindset.
It will be interesting to see how he plays out, but I think there’s just as good of a chance that he gets upset about something and refuses to play as there is he’s a top 5 guy in a couple years

A safe bet? Almost no qb is a safe bet to be decent in the NFL.
Exactly. Even number one overall QBs. I mean out of 32 starting QBs in the NFL right now how many were #1 overall picks? Is it 6 or 7?

Anybody can play a role/put on a front for three days, especially with an army of handlers coaching you.
Let’s see how he interviews in November when his team has only won two or three games, his stats are crap, and he’s not getting softball questions from accommodating media and team officials who (for whatever reason) want to believe he’s a franchise QB.

Watching his videos from the combine, that's exactly how he came across. If this guy goes to a big market with actual reporters, he's going to crumble

I think it’s more than that by a good bit.
ETA: my bad read this as first rounders.

What you just described is a difficult situation for any rookie QB. How is Caleb any different? You’re acting like Caleb went into a shell and sucked the last half of the year for USC. Outside of the ND game, he still played well despite a bad team.
