Ok, so after a joke of a night, they're in a hotel finally as of a few minutes ago.
Anyway, some background to help. My daughter had work over there and was staying a few extra days afterwards. So she was in a hotel in another city for a few days.
This trip was planned for months and she researched all kinds of stuff for the AirBNB... it was really nice in a nice area close to where she could walk around and sight-see.
My wife decided to join her last minute, so we booked her flights about a week ago.
The reason for all the bags is there were two extra bags from her convention she was going to need to bring back to the US with her.
Once the AirBNB fiacso happened, they went to a hotel close by but it was full. At least 4 ubers showed up and then refused to take them to another hotel... middle eastern men. It is what it is.
Finally a cook at the hotel with no vacancy got on a call with a taxi guy and explained their situation and the taxi company helped out.
Crazy shite.

It may be one thing to show up at 4PM in a foreign country to check in, but it's entirely another to show up that late (I know, 10PM is when they start looking for clubs to go to,) especially when you have non trained travelers by themselves.
If OP is a frequent traveler, it's entirely his fault. Whatever can go wrong, will. Marriott knows how to fix it. Some rando you're renting from, especially after getting drunk all day, will leave your family stranded. Next time, if they're arriving that late, book them into a major hotel chain at the airport, then take a ride into town the next day to find your AirBnB. At least that way you kids know they're going to get to sleep after arrival.

Ya, lesson learned, first time for this.
They arrived to the AirBNB at 8pm, so like you said, first lesson is don't get there that late.
