If there was a 3 point line Pistol would have shot more 3's. He was that kind of player. And if there was a shot clock.......... The fact is what Pistol did in 3 years will probably never be broken and can never be compared to todays game and rules. But anyone knows this all part of the agenda by the left to reduce white males to inferiority as they have been doing for the last 20 years. There is NO comparison between Clark and Maravich other than they were both incredible scorers in their time. She is one of the best shooters I have ever seen male or female. But she ain't breaking Pete's record no matter how hard they try.

Clark is a great woman’s basketball player. Comparing a woman and man in a sport is not realistic, thus Maravich and Clark comparisons make no sense. If you look up Track and Field events or Swimming events and compare men’s vs. women’s times, there is about a 10% faster or better score for men than women.

Different games for men and women. Both great athletes, but cannot compare.

You've also got to consider the old game was without a shot clock and Princeton, for example, would lose to a UNC 28-17. How many shots would Pete take in this era? Anyway, Pete is one of my heroes not just because he played at LSU but because he turned his life over to Christ before he died. YouTube some of his testimonies, they were awesome.

Has there ever been any data on what Pete’s scoring total would have been in his 3 years at LSU with a 3 point line ?

I downvoted you but I think last year when the 6th year guy that cam up just short of PMs record did this. I am not going back and trying to find it but some Rantard posted it from somewhere or he want back and did it. For some reason I want to say Dale Brown was mentioned in the post.

I was at LSU when Pete showed up as a freshman. Spent a lot of time in line at the Cow Palace waiting for the freshman game. What impressed us most was not his scoring - that was a given. His passing & ball handling were jaw dropping. Can't count how many times he hit Apple & Fig in the head with his passes until they learned to "look"!
Off the court & in the class room, he was a regular student.
I didn't know him well, but those who did remember him as a regular guy.

Based on what he actually did, he would have averaged 55 points a game.

..and this was with defenders picking him up at half court if not full court. He had to work for every shot and still rang up as many points as he did.

Disagree. Defense on the college and pro level play very poor defense on 3 point shooters.

Many teams only try layups or 3 pointer. They active discourage mid-range game.

If Pete would get 3 points instead of two do you not think their main defensive gameplan would be to limit his 3pt attempts. I know it’s counter intuitive but you can’t consider the offensive potential without also considering the defensive changes and tactics a rule change that big would make.

He might get a lot more assists though drawing so much attention allowing team ages to get better looks.
