I’m not knocking Johnson. I’m acknowledging that Johnson probably figured out he could make things extremely difficult for everyone trying to pressure him if they continued.

Johnson is fairly fresh and seems like a good guy. If i were thrown into that spot and knew i could take the heat or step away when the uniparty came after me, i'd just stonewall everything possible that was a CR or multipage bill. "i can't get what my constituents want, but i'll make sure you don't get things they don't want."

Him giving this up so soon after his SIL died in a freak “drowned in a lake after backing a Tesla into it” accident is odd timing to say the least.

Interesting… any chance we can get a Trump family member to replace him? That would be the best option.

Cornyn is my unfortunate guess.

The problem is that there aren’t any capable replacements.

Mitch comes from a time when compromise was possible because the left had not gone completely off the rails.

Now, you need a ruthless personality that can withstand the heat and so what’s right.

That’s becoming more and more difficult because the country is shifting toward the squad and fewer sane leftists exist.

If Trump wins, there might be enough pressure from the younger Senators to get a Tim Scott or similar in the leadership position.

Yeah, it seems like rather peculiar timing if it's really a 'he gets to rubber stamp his replacement' sort of deal.

Maybe he feels like he’s got everything in place?

Thune sucks.

Hopefully someone good is able to emerge in a scrum.

Mike Lee?
Rubio?
Scott?

Personally I’d like to see a Tuberville or a Paul but I know they don’t have enough support.

Y’all better hope he stays in the Senate through his 2028 term because those libs in Kentucky will elect that freak of a Governor just like the Georgia libs have done.

Mitch became completely out of touch with the base and can’t lead anymore. He lost respect of the rank and file. He will ride the pine and count his CCP millions until retirement

Best hope, IMHO, is a fight like we just had in the House where most of the top candidates keep stabbing each other in the back.

I think we can all come together to celebrate Glitch McConnell's departure from public life.

Hopefully he can retire to a farm up north where he can do his cocaine in peace and reminisce about his role in killing bipartisanship in American politics.

Honestly, at this point, McConnell’s personal interests and self enrichment don’t line up with those of the American people. He functions about like a Democrat.
