If Cook can play but is not by choice, time to move on.

Missouri had a 6’10” manimal that could rebound, step out and hit the 3 and play physical defense and was a 1st round draft pick and had another almost as good as him. We don’t have that. Those 2 dudes took over the game when we played them. Reed is functional at this point but he’s not at that level yet. You put that guy on this team and we are in upper echelon of the SEC.

Love Hannibal but he can be just as big a liability on offense as Cook is on defense. We may be the only team in the SEC with a starting PG with no jump shot. Cook gives teams a different look on offense and a different threat. And can get his shot sometimes when the offense is struggling. It is a negative not to have him available. You don’t just throw away 15ppg.

I've been out of the loop on Cook--is he hurt or is he not playing due to "coach's decision"

I don't know, but he's definitely not playing -- don't think it's the coach's decision for him not to play. He played Adam Benhayoune, a WALKON from Helotes, TX in the 2nd half vs MSU

If it is not the coaches decision to not play cook, then cook needs to suck it up and play he played against Florida and looked fine he needs to suck up and play, are you hurt or injured big difference put your big boy pants on and get out the there and play!

I agree with this. I think Cook coming off the bench as the 6th man was a perfect fit.

Like I said in my last post when the topic was, what does coach Mac have to do to sell us that he is the right man, In year three he has to put together roster that has an IDENTITY, and has to prove we can be CONSISTENT. Beat them teams you should be, protect your home court. If we did this all year and you add upsets like Kentucky and SC to your resume we are probably looking to get in the tourney with some room to better our seed in the SEC tournament

No chemistry on offense. Just look totally out of sync.

I could just as easily make an argument with some pretty sustainable facts that team has played better in SEC play without Cook than with.

And let's not minimize how bad he is defensively. Half the game is played there and he's IMHO almost as much of a liability defensively as Baker.

Teams pretty much know Wright is the option in last 10 seconds.

And pretty much anytime there's a big possession...yeah that needs to be tweaked....it's played and everyone knows.

i think his feelings are hurt bc his PT had diminished. He may be a scorer but he plays terrible defense and doesn't seem to be a team player. Even before he was "hurt" our team would make comebacks with him on the bench.

I haven't been able to watch them much since I don't get the SEC Network. I do look at text play-by-play and box scores and individual stats. From what I can tell, Cook's Sun Belt numbers have not transferred to a superior conference/SEC. I would put him in the mediocre category just like I do most of the LSU players...meh.

Cook had very poor shot selection and forced up way too many shots.
Between several trips to the bench and seeing his teammates improving,
he can be a big help to the team. He should be able to get better looks
because the other teams can’t focus on him like they were

Despite being 3-1 over the last 4 games, the offensive efficiency numbers have been dropping like a rock (currently ranked 101). Hannibal had a few solid games vs. South Carolina and Kentucky in terms of turnovers (only 1 over those games). But in the last two he has 9 turnovers. Cook had his own turnover issues to. But for a team that isn't a great (or even good) ball handling team, Cook at least gave you some degree of consistency there. Particularly for a team that relies on so much one-on-one play to generate their offense. His absence was clearly noticeable against the only great defensive team LSU has played in the last 4-5 games, Mississippi St. LSU couldn't generate ANYTHING against MSU's half court defense

Defensively Cook has been a liability. So that has improved with him out. But there has been an offense/defense tradeoff. Overall though, it's probably a bit of a wash. The difference is the bounces that didn't go their way in tight games vs. A&M, UGA, Florida, did go their way in games vs. USC, Kentucky, UGA. Cook being out hasn't been the killer some probably thought it would have been. But his absence hasn't made LSU significantly better either. Just different in terms of what end of the floor on which they are a bit stronger.

Disagree 100%. No way they win the USC or Kentucky games with Cook. Cook is a very good 1 on 1 player and scorer but does very little to add to team chemistry. Yes the team was flat against Moo State and last night but the "TEAM" found a way to win and that promotes growth. Hope to see Cook back soon but he needs to become more of a team player and score when the teams needs it and get others involved and not force shots when he is covered. LETS GEAUX TIGER TEAM!!!!

Yep. I cringe when Wright gets the ball b/c he doesn't know how to create and definitely can't finish at the goal. And I'm not trying to be mean but Fountain brings very little to the table. Seems lost most of the time like the game is to fast. Let Hannibal drive and dish.

without cook there is no margin for error
this team was dead in the water until cook got eligible
I still think you could use his scoring and some of these recent games would have been way easier especially when LSU hits that dry spell

Agreed with all of this, and if fact I have heard that this is not an injury related issue, and that Cook may not play the rest of the year if said issue does not improve.
