Williams, Daniels, Maye, JJ (lol), Bo, or Penix Jr.? Who ends up having the best career?

Can bump this in another 3-5 years

I think it’ll be:

Daniels
Maye
Bo
Penix Jr.
Williams
JJ

Maye has everything you need to be a top 3 QB but I wonder if he is a system QB. He also makes a ton of terrible decisions.

I think Daniels just needs to learn how to slide and not take the crazy hits.

Williams-all the talent in the world but I don’t think he has it mentally to be successful long term.

Bo-feel like he can be a legit top 15 QB but not a franchise guy

Penix Jr.-if Mr. Glass can stay healthy, definitely top 10 potential but man did he look like shite against Michigan. Night and day from the Texas game.

JJ- will be a worse Daniel Jones, the scouts making a fool of themselves all over again trying to hype this guy recently.

They will all have a better career than Bryce Young and Mac Jones

Only a select few can overcome the organization they end up with.

Don't know the exact order but Daniels will be good and Williams will be a massive bust IMO. Even as an LSU fan, I didn't think Daniels would be this good.

Like you said, Williams just doesn't have the mentality for it. He's lacking heart. I still don't understand why he's talked about as some can't miss prospect when he was essentially an afterthought this year.

Best potential for career-Maye
Worst-Nix

It is all a crap shoot. Only guy I feel confident will fail is Williams.

I don't understand Nix at all. Wasn't he mostly a check down guy? I'm going with Penix.

quote:

“Deep ball accuracy travels!”

That text from a longtime quarterback evaluator encapsulated the overwhelmingly loved part of Penix’s game. Evaluators fawn over how precisely he throws deep passes. It was an attribute displayed to perfection in Washington’s 37-31 semifinal win over Texas in the Sugar Bowl — not to mention repeatedly over the course of the Huskies’ undefeated season — which saw Penix feather deep balls to wideouts Rome Odunze and Ja’Lynn Polk. Penix finished the win over the Longhorns with 430 yards passing and two touchdowns, as well as an impressive 76.3 percent completion rate.

“With what I just witnessed in person at the Sugar Bowl, Penix is an assassin and has absolute, total command of the offense and incredible poise, nothing fazes him,” one evaluator said. “J.J. McCarthy is a great athlete but not nearly the arm talent Penix has. Penix is the most accurate downfield passer I’ve ever seen in college, ever. And I’m not exaggerating. Texas had good coverage on a lot of those big plays and it didn’t matter. And the designed QB draws were daggers. [E]very time Texas thought they were figuring out how to stop Washington, Penix would rip off a 10-plus yard run for a first down.”

quote:

“I’ve watched Penix for two years — he can really spin it [and] throws the best deep ball I’ve evaluated in 30 years,” one high-level NFL personnel man said. “I saw Penix in the wind last year at a practice and was astounded at how accurate he was on the seams, overs and deep balls. It really grabbed my attention. But the injury history is super scary.”

These threads are so stupid because so much of these answers depends on where they end up

Maye is Trubisky and Howell reincarnate, he’ll be dropped or traded within 3 years

It’s who lands in the best spot, anybody who goes to Chicago, Washington, NE, or either of the New York teams is doomed. That’s just the way it is

Whoever ends up with the Bears, Jets, Browns, Giants will most likely suck. I'm sure there are other teams that fit here but you can just about pick these 4 teams every year and be right.

If the Bears draft Williams, I'm fricking done. Period. I've watched them take the wrong QB my whole life, and everyone with a lick of sense would not draft that momma's boy.

Trade out of #1 for a kings ransom and roll with Fields for 1 more year. If he isn't the answer, youre not stuck for 4 more years with a QB who will lose you as many games as he wins you. He's not Patrick Mahomes, as much as the media wants to say he is. He's Kyler Murray.

If you just gotta take a QB, then take Daniels, who is just as electric, with none of the mental or character issues.

With all that said, i think itll be :

Daniels
Maye
Penix Jr.
JJ
Bo
Williams

I just think Williams is gonna get his rookie #1 Pick money, and go have himself a Jamarcus-ly good time. People who paint their fingernails don't like to get hit by 300lb lineman if they don't have to.

Maye has higher floor, but Daniels has higher ceiling. Think Maye's ceiling is somewhere in the 10-15 range and low end around 18-20, but Daniels could broach the top 5 or be a complete bust in 3 years.

I just can't see these guys making a huge impact. Maybe Penix depending on where he ends up could be a decent enough starter.

Williams

Almost want to hot take and say he will actually be decent because he has the physical tools, but I just don't see him having the mental fortitude for the NFL.

All depends on where they go. The guys that drop to functional, stable situations will probably end up better for it.

Daniels- Lots of potential to be elite
Maye- BUST, just does not impress me much
Bo- will be shockingly good in a few years
Penix Jr.- Teddy Bridgewater type of career
Williams- the next Dak Prescott
JJ- another Zac Wilson

Penix might be one of the most overrated college QBs I've ever seen.

Daniels arm improvement from his 1st to 2nd year at LSU cannot be understated.

Bo Nix has the best upside of all of them followed maybe by Daniels and Oenix.

Daniels is going to have to curb his penchant for running so much it will get him hurt. He has learned to throw a ball and has gotten very good at it.

Nix knows how to movein the pocket and throw the ball. He only runs as a last resort.

People are so down on Caleb Williams I went from thinking he was going to be a bust to now thinking he’s headed for the hall of fame.

No he’s by far the least likely to have major success.

Now he may be a guy who hangs around as a journeyman holding a clipboard on the sidelines for a decade.
