I remember reading it about the same time the miniseries came out. Yes, it's very long, and to me that was a good thing. I thought it was fantastic, and very, very in depth. It was one of those books that no matter how long, if you got into it, you wished it kept going at the end. It could have gone another 300+ pages just to complete Toranaga's story.
