You’re either trying to skip steps in the process, or you’re not really focusing, which has roughly the same effect.

When we’re kids, we are forced to learn every basic step because we are tested on every basic step. As we get older, we are tested on final product, and in our arrogance, we tend to believe that we don’t need to truly master every basic step along the way.
