Sadly all new evangelical churches are like this both big and small. They got too wrapped up in the "experience" and neglected the Gospel. It obviously can be compounded even worse the more mega the church gets.
I used to go to Healing Place in Baton Rouge and would take offense when people would talk down about it but thankfully the Lord fully got a hold of my heart again and I realized every Sunday was just empty talk. The wife and I also didn't like how all of the "small groups" didn't seem to actually exist so we couldn't meet anyone to grow in faith with.
Thankfully we have been in a small Bible based church for over 2 years now and have grown exponentially in faith.

As I stated, I am familiar with the Hosanna Church in Ponchatoula scandal. Here is a link with some relative info if you’re unfamiliar.
LINK
I was asked by my senior pastor to go and speak there a couple of times around 1996. Evidently the church wasn’t doing well and he wanted me to spend a little time with the pastor there and see if we could help.
The building was outdated and larger than the attendance and it definitely had the feel of something that used to be. After the services my family accompanied Louis Lamonica and his family to lunch. My initial feelings were that while he was very pleasant and cordial, he was much lacking in the mindset and capabilities required to lead and grow a church. I’m not trying to be demeaning but “simple” was the takeaway I had.
I never got the feeling that the church would prosper or maybe even continue to exist under his oversight. However nothing about him struck me as evil or immoral.
When I found out what had happened there I was shocked to say the least. I read up on it and the fact that the church had shrunk and basically dissolved didn’t shock me. The allegations did tremendously. What I found out by watching a Vice documentary on it was that while the charges and allegations were horrifying- when the investigation was completed the only real evidence that put them away was the willful confession that was made when Louis walked willingly into a police station and told the wildest and most disgusting things to the detectives. With no actual forensic evidence the question became why the confession?
I read an article later that detailed Louis’ recant and explanation. On the surface it seemed self serving and desperate. But once I unpacked it all- having been a part of the 80’s and 90’s charismatic church move- and having seen the good the bad and the ugly of it- I immediately recognized some of the traits.
Once the church was about closed, Louis basically gave authority of the tiny services to a self proclaimed prophetess. She assumed control of the remaining members lives. Giving them wildly hyper spiritual instructions. To the point that Louis should go and confess to things that there is a very real possibility that he didn’t do. In later years, the kids recanted and said they also were told what to say.
Again, no evidence of rape, abuse, satanic rituals or any other of the initial statements- just the confession of a very simple individual who literally thought that after his meeting with detectives he’d simply go home.
Far-fetched? Hard to believe? I agree. But it totally lines up with what I understand to be true about the family, the state of the church and the unfortunate happenings that at times were a part of the charismatic church at that time.

Do you believe his confession?

Well, I’ll say it this way- there really isn’t any forensic evidence to support his own confession. So, no, I don’t. The guy just isn’t smart at all. And that’s being kind.

How much are they paying you to shill for them

I noticed the rapidly fled the state and his wife post lots of cryptic messages.
Meh. A cursory glance at her instagram shows her posting a lot of happy pics and videos with him.
She either forgave him or Kacie$ made the whole thing up.

Funny, I go to HPC on Highland and have never seen an ATM anywhere in the building.

Religion is the biggest scam/greatest fable in recorded history. The amount of time and money that is wasted(“devoted “) to a bedtime story is remarkable.

who is kacie$ ?? since essentially your reply is the only one pertaining to the topic.
and those who say mark is a down to earth guy, I want whatever you are smoking. I felt like he wanted me to kneel before him with the few encounters I had with him. He literally wants his congregation to bow down to him and how powerful he is that "god chose him". ive been to his services a few times and it all felt so wrong and slimy. and I know people that have preached at his satellite locations that couldn't preach what they wanted to- only what he said was ok. from what I know, he and his wife basically shunned Levi and left him and Elle out to deal with his crisis with zero love or compassion

I don’t go to HPC and I know thus board loves to crap on it. That said Mike and Rachel Haman are stand up people, not from the Dino Rizzo mold.

Everything that family has done has been suspect. Listening to them talk oozes politician/used car lot salesmen.
I Don’t know Levi but the way Mark Stermer handled the “transition” of CLA to TCA to later closing and being sold out was amateur hour at best.
Had meeting at school with kindergarten-12th and told them their school would be closing during the school year. Hey pal how about mention this to children’s parents first so they can break the news to the kids? The parents found out via text messages from kids at school.
My oldest son graduated from CLA and my youngest son went there from Pre K - 8th grade. We pulled him out of CLA with quickness after that Parents meeting in the Chapel with Stermer announcing they were taking over the school from Dr. Melilli.

I met him about 10 years ago while playing paint ball wars. I have talked to him lately a few times. He seems like the same guy to me.
