I'm convinced that the few who have issues either suffer from user error (or just pure stupidity) or internet issues.

It's easier to blame an app that works for 99% of other people perfectly fine.

I suspect a lot of the folks who have issues are probably watching on smart TV apps or something where things can get pretty finicky. There are a lot of different ways to watch ESPN streams and some work better than others.

I would also say that “perfectly fine” might be a stretch. I have always been able to get the games to come on eventually but there have been plenty of technical issues with the ESPN app. Particularly around authentication between the ESPN+ and TV provider logins. Usually I’m able to get them resolved by either restarting the app or logging off and logging back in, but if it worked “perfectly fine” this wouldn’t be an issue in the first place.

I’ve also had multiple cases where I got stuck with the “your event is about to begin” screen until I logged out and logged back in. That’s without getting into the stupidity of their branding between SECN+/ESPN+.

The ESPN apps might be functional, but there is a lot of room for improvement.

My cousin has ESPN+ and I used his log in 2 seasons ago to watch an away midweek game that was on ESPN+. Two entire years later and I'm still logged in to that same ESPN+ account. Yet people claim they get signed out every time they use the app

I know how the logins work and the difference between ESPN+ and SECN+, but I had to re-enter my DirecTV subscription info often into the ESPN app. I don't know why but it certainly was not user error. Since my switch to YTV it hasn't happened nearly as often. I do not have ESPN+ currently. I'll add it later when the baseball games require it.

I have never had a single issue with either one.

Then consider yourself fortunate.

That is how it always is. Until you do...

it's easy to believe this while it is working for you, then things go sideways, and you get absolutely no support and people then call you stupid.

I had a problem last year. I'm not computer friendly.
I was feeling apprehensive, yesterday. Followed the instructions and voila, there was the game. Today I clicked on ESPN
then scanned until I found the LOGO.
To my surprise, there was the game in purple and gold.

Do the ADs and SIDs known how Jane and Joe Public are being treated by the only network with our product?

As long as Disney keeps cutting checks, the Athletic Directors and Univeristy Presidents really don't give a shite how you are treated by ESPN.

I watched the game with no problem on my phone. As several have suggested, I have successfully used the app through a smart tv for years with regular issues.
Maybe it's the interface with the smart tv and/or direct tv, to me thats irrelevant. We watch mlbaseball by clicking on the game from the main menu. The ESPN app and cutomer service sucks. This is the sole provider for the sec. I stand by the earlier statement that tv revenue will suffer in comparison to the other giant in the room if the functionality doesn't improve.
