They’d have received a charity invite to a hypothetical 12 team playoff last season, the highest ranked team was Arizona at 14. What do they have? Potentially 2 teams that are in the top 25 next season? The only reason they’ll have a top 12 ranked team is because they will be playing against zero competition.

Not sure why anyone thinks having two power conferences with 20+ teams is good for college football.
Regionality is what made college football.

I mean it's not, we are already getting a stale, watered down version of what it used to be. This just hastens the end of true actual college football, and in less than 15 years we will be rooting for teams associated with the colleges instead.

They’ll be a lot less “we” rooting for those teams.

This is the Rubicon for me. I don’t like what college sports have become, but I’ve had season tickets for 30+ years and I’m keeping them. I still support LSU.
But the second the players are not actually students or the team is just “affiliated” with LSU, I’m out.
I’m not rooting for the Baton Rouge Tigers.

Source?
Last thing SEC should want is for FSU to go BIG. Let BIG have our leftovers but FSU would be a win for them. We need to be more proactive and take FSU. Same with Clemson but slightly less.
VT is a great fit for the SEC. Absolutely passionate fans and top programs in the sports that matter and patriotic as hell. Think of a more normal A&M.
UNC is a great program and I know alot of conservatives who went there. SEC is footabll first but having them and UK will make SEC the best basketball conference. Guarantee they'll throw a shite ton of money into football if they join the SEC.
UVA is a perfect fit for the SEC if you want Mizzou's trophy case, Tulane's fan base and Berkley's wokeness.

FSU can eat a BOD as far as I’m concerned. Me no likely the Gators but I’m with them on this one.
Still bitter the Noles beat that arse the last couple years?
FSU wouldn't be going through this if they didn't have a landing spot. The powers at FSU have hinted numerous times with a smirk that we have options, but obviously aren't saying anything at the moment.

There are also lots of rumblings that NC State and VA Tech have asked to enter the B10 or SEC but we're rebuffed and have now asked the B12 and the B12 is interested.
Both sound feasible.
Neither school is a football power right now (or really ever in NCST’s case), so getting rebuffed by the SEC makes sense if they don’t feel either brings anything to the table to raise the quality of the product.
The Big 12 wanting them also makes sense given the size of the conference and that they would want to start dividing more on east and west, as both schools would be somewhat close to the likes of West Virginia and Cincy.

Power 2
It will be the Power 3, but only championships will be won by the SEC B1G. The Sunbelts, American, will develop their own playoff.

I’m thinking Big Ten because they have, at least on paper, good academic rankings plus football and basketball success.
FSU’s research spending on R&D, for example, is comparable with Nebraska, who is already in.

Yeah I think, contrary to what most people seem to think, FSU wants to be in the B1G while UNC would prefer the SEC.
I could see a situation where it's FSU and Miami to the B1G while it's UNC and one of Clemson, NC State, UVA, or VT for the SEC.

Probably depends on what the SEC wants based on those choices.
Football? Clemson, but they are starting to backslide.
Basketball? UVA won a title in the past decade and is still a power
Academics? UVA

Duke and Miami are total wild cards.
Army, Navy, Duke, Miami, GTech,Tulane, Rice, AF, Stanford,Cal
SEC buyout/payment to Vandy then either SMU or Tulsa
or WSU, OSU
12 team 2 division of 6 , affordable travel for non-revenue sports
and promise 1 of the 12 spots to the Champ because of weighted academics .
it allows for the pretense of amateur athletics

With the way TV is moving, it's about adding teams that create compelling matchups with a fan base that will pay $20 a month to watch.
UVA doesn't have that - but VT certainly does.
Honestly if the SEC added UNC and VT I think both would end up being great fits.

not wrong about VT, would love them in the SEC
but if the antitrust stuff is true and the BIG and SEC only wanna take 2 each, is VT really gonna get picked over Clemson or FSU? I doubt it

VT hasn’t really done shite in years.
One 10 win season since about 2014 and a lot of mediocrity.
UVA hasn’t done much in football for longer but they help prop up other areas.
If it is about football matchups, then it is Clemson, NC State, VT, and UVA in that order of preference.
If it is basketball or academics with the idea of having a Vandy style school to prop up other areas, UVA is front of the line.

more than UNC
YALL this is no longer a sports , traditional grading system
its market based ,, just like expansion, relocation in the ProLeagues
its why LSU will make the first cut of 40 but will become as irrelevant as a&M is now
which is none

UNC is a given in the scenario that was laid out. The question was “Who out of Clemson, NCST, VT, or UVA gets the last spot?”
