I got $18k off a 2021 model truck in Feb 2021, immediately before the vehicle shortage. That stealership didn’t get another shipment for months, but they were desperate for sales at the time

The sales people hate me by the time I leave

1988 got best deal.
December 23, 1988.
Looking for new or preowned compact 4x4 truck.
My truck blew an engine and it was time to put her to rest at the junkyard.

Dealer had 1988 Nissan Hardbody Desert Runner only 1000 made. Came with a certificate, hat, and plaque.

Niche truck as it was built to celebrate Nissan winning 1987 Baja 1000 and Gold Cup race. Had a lot more suspension options, but just $4k more that I could not budget.

It was $4k more than regular 1988 Nissan Hardbody 4x4.

Dealer saw me eyeing the truck.
I just flat out told the guy, I like the truck. I would buy it, but $4k more than my budget even though I was had pre approval for the amount out of my range.

I was about ready to buy 4x4 loaded just not a desert runner for $4k less.
They would have had to pull it from another dealer.

Dealer said sleep on it and gave me the keys to the desert runner over Xmas holidays.

Came back on 27th when they opened up. They gave me desert runner for the same price as a regular 4x4.

Wife thought at end of the year.
Sitting on this truck.
They would have had to pull another truck from another dealer.
They just wanted to unload the truck.

Pre-COVID you could easily get 20-25% off the sticker price(blue box)of a Ford 150 XL or XLT truck. If you didn't get that then you didn't try!
I got just under 21% off of my 2018 F150 at the beginning of the month.

Not sure about that today.

Got a 2017 4Runner TRD Offroad for 500 over sticker ($36-ish) from a dealer in Spartanburg NC. Sold it for more than that in 2021 with 33k miles. I got $38.5k.

Got a 2020 Ram Limited for $18k off sticker right when Covid hit. Crazy that for a time they couldn’t move vehicles to save their lives then went straight to price gouging
