Crazy stuff always seems to happen on a full moon. Yall think there's some sort of evolutionary reason for this or is it all baloney?

It's 99.9% baloney. I think there was 1 study that showed that people with bipolar disorder could be affected by the full moon, but that's it.

I have to deal with….lets just say….not the best our society has to offer on a daily basis. There always seems to be an uptick in crazy around the full moon. I don’t pay much attention to the phases, but if I’m having an extra crazy day I’ll check the current phase and it seems like nine times out of ten it’s the day before, day of, or day after the full moon.

It is said that women's menses cycle with phases of the moon, most predominantly during the full moon. Now, women claim they run the world, and behind every great man is a woman taking credit, so it would naturally mean the world would go crazier as they went crazier at full moon.

After all, the word "loony" come from Luna, the moon.

Lunar cycles = lunatics
It's real
When people are driving crazier around me I can tell a full moon is present.

After working for the fire department, I 100% believe. The crazies always come out during a full moon.

Also, petty thefts are up during a full moon, but that's mostly due to the fact they can see without flashlights.

The full moon effect is because there is more light to see to make stupid choices in.

Fact

It goes back long time but both Humans and animals are more active on a full moon

It has more to do with the light provided on a clear night during a full moon than anything else. More visibility, more activity

During the battle to move things West in the US, the full moon was referred to as a "Comanche Moon" because the majority of Comanche attacks took place on during full moons.

Experienced cops believe it, which I didn't until more than one said the same.

I've always thought that evolutionally since there is physically more light during night time this allows people to see better and potentially act up at night, especially before artificial light was invented. Due to this I wouldnt be surprised there is something built into our system causing us to act crazy around this time every month.

You know how the moon's pull causes the tides?

You know how the human body is mostly water?

You know how humans are not nocturnal by nature, subject to hallucinations at night .... fearing things unseen in the shadows for 99.9% of our evolutionary existence?

You know how the moon, when full, casts odd night shadows in the forest, woods, jungles ... in graveyards?

Combine all of that together and take into consideration the human psyche.

From there you'll find the origin of the full moon myth.

Oh, and throw in the fact that certain animals are also influenced by a full moon.

I worked on a lock down psych unit and in an ER for years. In my experience, the moon doesn't mean shite. Sometimes full moons were bad, sometimes they weren't. There were plenty of non full moon nights that were as wild as any full moon nights.

The full moon myth was probably more relevant before modern electricity. People would be more active on those nights because they could better see what they were doing

Definitely fact.

My wife is bipolar and a couple of years ago she started researching the moon's effect on people. She went back through her journals and every single manic episode she's had since the BP manifested back in 1994 was during a full moon.

She hasn't had an episode in 11 years due to figuring out what she needs from an exercise/sleep/meds combination, but each full moon we both get a little more serious about making sure she's following her routine.
