Russia has said for decades that Ukraine is a red line.
And our foray into Ukraine has done more damage to us, than what's been done to Russia and we aren't even in theater. For 30 years after the collapse of the USSR, Russia never had stronger ties to China than it does now. And that's because of our stupidity.

Ah the ole Peter Zeihan routine or whatever his name is - that dude is an idiot. I suspect that with Russia's economy doing well that the birth rate will start picking up. It's about 0.9 per 1000 less than the US. That's like 2 additional births per month in most areas of Russia. That's a pretty small margin to make up. As for life expectancy, it's increasing in Russia and is about 5 yrs behind ours. It took a hit after the collapse and over the past 20 yrs or so it's steadily increasing. If our nation collapsed, I wonder what would happen to our life expectancy.

Demographic arguments are not persuasive. Governments can easily incentivize dramatic changes to rectify these things. Or, like in China, they can produce disastrous effects.

It wasn't demographics that doomed the USSR, it was bad policy. The same will apply to us, China, and Russia.

It's time to stop hating Russia. We deprive ourselves of peace, increased trade and prosperity, increased leverage in dealing with nations like North Korea and Iran, that have strong ties with Russia, and we march ourselves closer to war.

We have to look after our national interests and right now, this hatred for Russia and the policies that go with it are not attending to our national interests.

I am glad you mentioned him as I have been meaning to talk about him. I subscribe to him. After listening to a bunch of his videos I did a bit more research on him and it turns out the guy gets a lot of invites to MIC galleys and enjoys mixing with MIC companies and doing well paid Ted "like" talks with MIC friendly forums. So if you are being paid by MIC interests then of course you are going to tow the line for the Western military interests. Which helps explains why he regurgitates all of the old tired cliches about China and Russia on his channel.

I still listen to some of his stuff and take his views on BRICK Nations with a grain of salt hoping that his views on energy, raw resources etc can still be a benefit. But if the guy is a proven liar about one thing its tough to know when you can trust him on another. Its a shame because he is a knowledable person, but like people in state sponsored university research, once they are paid by think groups they are forever tainted as their motivations are misalligned with the truth.
