I’m just speculating but maybe they were awarded honorary diplomas. I’ve got no skin in this fight.

The beauty of the OT is its complete lack of internal logic.

Pretty sure he got his GED, then they gave him a honorary HS diploma
After some digging, this is correct.

It’s fun to follow esp with my daughters. People that really lose breaths over either need to get help.

If you’re letting athletes and singers tell you how to think or vote then does your diploma have much merit? Who cares what they think ?!

Is OP saying the more educated you are, the more influence you should have?

Eddie Murphy did a piss take version of this back around 1982 talking about how he has a few weeks of community college yet is the hottest star on TV as of that second.

He then told everyone that you are lucky or you aren’t so don’t bother with school, get each other pregnant and play Space Invaders, following it up with his driver coming in and claiming the driver graduated from Harvard.

I think that the OP is saying that a guy who pretends to read the first page of hundreds of different books probably isn’t the best person to have so much influence.

A simple search indicates he did graduate and had a 2.8 GPA.

At some point he had a 3.5 for a moment, but didn't maintain it.
